The elastic constants of splay, twist and bend are crucial for the description of many phenomena in the physics of liquid crystals (Lcs). Moreover, for thin films, the surface effects can also be determinant on the description of the orientation of the nematic director. In this direction, we present two theoretical results. We show some calculations on the electrical responses of a thin film of nematic liquid crystals, and the Resistance and Capacitance and Electrical Current is obtained in terms of integrals. In a second work, the torque transmission effect in nematic liquid crystals is explored in a cell where an in-plane electric field can induce a chiral structure, similar to cholesteric phase, if dynamic effect of the surfaces is taken into account.
